AARON GEKOSKI
Aaron Gekoski is a photojournalist and filmmaker specialising in human-animal conflict. For almost two decades he has travelled the globe documenting our complex and often troubling relationship with wildlife.
His work has explored issues ranging from the illegal wildlife and pet trade to deforestation, marine conservation and wildlife tourism. Through photography and film, he investigates the systems, industries and human behaviours driving wildlife exploitation, with a focus on creating visually powerful and emotionally layered narratives. His images have appeared in dozens of international publications and books.
Aaron was awarded the 2024 Environmental Photographer of the Year by Prince Albert II of Monaco. He is also a previous winner at Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Nature Photographer of the Year, Man and Nature, the International Photography Awards and Africa Geographic, among others. A co-founder of
Four Corners Film and Photography, Aaron has produced or featured in over 100 short and long-form documentaries. His films have been acquired by Al Jazeera, Smithsonian, Apple TV, Sky, Amazon, and National Geographic. He also fronted several online series for
ScubazooTV.
His documentary, Eyes of the Orangutan, was the culmination of five years work exploring the wildlife tourism industry. It was nominated for best conservation film at the prestigious JacksonWild Film Festival, with Aaron also nominated for best on-screen talent at Wildscreen. The film is currently being shown on National Geographic.
His recent feature film, Dethroned (co-produced by Terra Mater and Four Paws), showcased a global investigation into our relationship with the big cats. The film just won Best of Show at the pretigious Impact Docs Award, along with other international awards.
Aaron regularly collaborates with NGOs, media organisations and production companies to create investigative visual stories and documentaries focused on wildlife, conservation and environmental issues.
